Thank you for waiting! We understand it might’ve been quite a wait. Much debate took place, and we thank those who’ve gone through the trouble of making minor fixes to their profiles. After a long pause between enrollments, we were glad to see that there were still people interested in joining Kamenoko, and it does make us happy to welcome new faces in!

Summer 2014 Enrollments Results:

  • Total Applicants: 12

  • Total Acceptance: 5

As always, we are looking for well-rounded, realistic, three-dimensional characters. This is a reiteration from past commentaries (i.e. 2012 Fall: sta.sh/0j8n2srny38 || 2013 Spring: sta.sh/0187wfx7ktg8 ) but remains a crucial point. Remember, your biography and personality should also read and feel COHESIVE. This means that the experiences your character has gone through in your bio has somehow influenced who they are as a person.

There were a good number of profiles who needed minor fixes, and again, we appreciate those who bothered to make those adjustments! Overall, the most common problems noted were the following:

  1. No explanation for personality traits. You could list a trait, yes, but we need to know why your character is like that, or how the character acts. A good tip to remember is that the character’s reason for acting a certain way can be found in his or her bio.
  2. Clashing bios and personalities. An example is the bio suggesting that the character became sociable and was good at it, but the personality suggested the character had trouble even getting to talk to people.
  3. Vague reasons for attending Kamenoko University. Remember that Kamenoko University is NOT a prestigious university. Some characters were people who were looking for greener pastures, but it didn’t make sense that they’d enroll at Kamenoko University when they could have opted for other universities that actually have status.
  4. Too tragic. It’s okay to have drama in a character, really. But it’s not good to write about a character that has too much grief. Maybe it could work in a story a single person is writing, but this is a ROLE-PLAY GROUP. You have to consider that maybe your character is too difficult to interact with or your character is too much of a victim. Why is it bad to have a tragic character? Google “Mary Sue”.
  5. Mun didn’t role-play. It’s part of the rules that you have to role-play. It doesn’t have to be front-page RP --- in-chat RPs work, too! We need to see how you role-play so we know you’re keeping your character’s profile in mind while you role-play.

For those who got rejected, we understand it can be really hard to swallow. But if you think you’d like to improve on things you’ve written, we’d like to help! If you happen to want to know why you got rejected, you can send a note to tigiru asking why, and we can give you commentary for your character alone.

Results aside, we thank everyone who’s helped out with the Summer 2014 Enrollments as well as those who’ve participated during the event as potentials. Looking forward to working with you guys in the future!
